Rachel qualified from Bradford University in 2003 and worked for 3 years in the Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. She then commenced working for Leeds Community NHS Trust in the Intermediate Care Team as a Senior Physiotherapist.

The role involved working with older adults in their own homes and in CIC beds, as part of a multidisciplinary team, to enable them to regain their independence with mobility and activities of daily living. She was managing a busy caseload, whilst responding to the needs of the service and completing urgent rapid response assessments.

This experience enabled Rachel to progress her career to become the Lead Physiotherapist at South Leeds Independence Centre (SLIC) within Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. Rachel was the Lead Physiotherapist at a 40 bedded CIC bed unit. As well as providing Physiotherapy rehabilitation to the patients, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team, Rachel was involved with setting up the new service. This involved providing initial training to nurses, carers and therapy staff on areas such as working in a rehab setting, documentation, falls prevention and moving and handling. Rachel supervised more junior members of staff, and developed the service, promoting changes to improve the patients experience and to improve therapy ways of working.

In August 2015 Rachel seconded to the Falls team in Leeds and was working here until she commenced working at Pro Active Physio Limited in January 2017.

At Pro Active she is the Clinical Manager for the 122 beds across Leeds.  She is responsible for service delivery, liaising with and training other team members and assisting the Directors.

Rachel has completed additional training regarding Falls Rehabilitation, Community Rehabilitation and Elderly Rehabilitation and is a member of AGILE.
